Our story

Maintaining general aviation aircraft since 2007

Nearly two decades of aircraft maintenance and a commitment to aviation safety.

Swift Aero was founded in 2007 as SwiftAir Maintenance Limited, with one aim: to deliver careful, precise maintenance for general aviation aircraft. From the start the work has been for flying schools and private owners across the United Kingdom.

In 2024 the company was acquired by a consortium, bringing new resources, expanded capabilities and additional technical expertise. In 2025 the operation moved to Shackleton Hangar at Sywell Aerodrome, Northampton.

Today, operating as Swift Aero, we build on that heritage while keeping up with how modern aircraft are maintained. The new name reflects a change of ownership and an evolution in how we work — not a change in what we care about.

Common questions

Is Swift Aero CAA approved?

Yes. Swift Aero Maintenance Limited is approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority as a Combined Airworthiness Organisation (Part-CAO), approval number UK.CAO.1051. Ask us to confirm the scope of our approval for your aircraft and the work you need.

Which aircraft do you maintain?

Piper, Cessna, Socata, Slingsby and Diamond aircraft, with Lycoming and Continental piston engines. If your type isn't listed, ask — the answer is usually a quick one.

Where are you based, and how do I get my aircraft to you?

Shackleton Hangar, Sywell Aerodrome (EGBK), Sywell, Northampton NN6 0BN. Most owners fly in. If the aircraft can't be flown, or you'd rather not, ask about our ferry pilot and aircraft recovery services.

Yes, annual and scheduled inspections. An airworthiness review is a separate process — tell us where your aircraft is in its ARC cycle and we'll confirm what we handle in-house.

Do you offer pre-purchase inspections?

Yes. We inspect aircraft for buyers and report what we find in writing, so you know what you're buying before the money moves.

Do you support Diamond aircraft with Thielert engines?
